The Foundations of St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church

St Isaac Jogues Parish is a community of faith founded on our Lord Jesus Christ Who is our Way, Truth and Life. Our desire to form strong Catholic Communities flow from the Sacred Liturgy of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacraments.
We see our spiritual and social responsibilities towards each other and to our communities as founded on the Spiritual and Corporal works of Mercy based on the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ to His Church as practiced since apostolic times through His representative the Pope in Rome.
The seven practices of Catholic charity toward our neighbor’s soul:
  • Admonish sinners
  • Instruct the ignorant
  • Counsel the doubtful
  • Comfort the sorrowful
  • Bear wrongs patiently
  • Forgive injuries
  • Pray for the living and the dead

The seven practices of Catholic charity toward our neighbor:
  • Feed the hungry
  • Give drink to the thirsty
  • Clothe the naked
  • Shelter the homeless
  • Visit the sick
  • Visit those in prison
  • Bury the dead

Mt 25:34 “Then the King will say to those at his right hand, ’Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ’Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?’ And the king will answer them, ’Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me.’”
As Catholics we also have a duty:
  • to lead by example
  • to defend the truth of the Catholic Faith
  • to help everyone who is in need
  • to volunteer our time, talents and resources without expecting recognition or earthly rewards
  • to pray for the salvation of all souls
